How it works

From the first question to the binder on the shelf

Most plans take three to five weeks from the first meeting to signing day. Here is every step.

  1. 01

Step 1: Call, or pick your question

Tell us in a sentence or two what's on your mind. We'll suggest who you should meet and what to bring.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Sit down together

An hour at our table, or yours. We listen first, then explain your choices in plain words.

  3. 03

Step 3: A flat fee, in writing

Within a few days you get a letter with what we'll prepare and the whole cost. Nothing starts until you agree.

  4. 04

Step 4: We write it out

Drafts come to you to read at home. We go through them with you and change what doesn't sound like you.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Signing day

You sign with witnesses and a notary in our office, at your home or in a care home.

  6. 06

Step 6: The binder goes home

Your originals, your letter and a list of where things are, in one place your family can find.

What to bring to the table, if you have it

None of this is required. Whatever you can find helps us give you a clearer answer the first time.

  • Any will, trust or power of attorney you've signed before

  • A rough list of what you own, and how it's titled

  • Life insurance and retirement account statements

  • The names of the people you'd trust to help

  • For probate: the death certificate and the will

  • For Medicaid: recent bank statements and care-home papers
