Medicaid planning
Paying for care without spending your spouse into hardship
A year in a nursing home can cost more than many families have saved. Medicaid can help, but its rules on income, savings and gifts are strict. Planning ahead, even a few months, can make a real difference.
Levi handles our Medicaid and long-term care work. He looks at what you own and what you earn, explains what Medicaid counts and what it doesn't, and plans around the five-year look-back on gifts. When one spouse needs care and the other stays home, he works to protect the home and enough income for the spouse who stays.

Questions people ask about Medicaid planning
Will Medicaid take our house?
Usually not while a spouse or certain family members live in it, but the rules have exceptions and the state can seek repayment later. That's exactly what planning is for.
Can Mom just give her money to us?
Gifts made within five years of applying can delay coverage. Please talk to us before anyone moves money.
Is it too late if Dad is already in a nursing home?
No. There are still steps we can take, especially for a spouse at home.
Plan for care before you need it
